"Hi, I'm Ingrid and I'm a......"
I've said this phrase many a time in he last 20+ years with a label attached to the end of the sentence. I think this statement was important to say out loud at times. To get over the hurdle of denial. To speak it out, so it became real for me. To say it, so that new people at the meetings could pick up on the inclusivity and bravery we all held while present. But now {even then} I am so much more than the label.
"Hi, I'm Ingrid and I'm a creation of the Creator, I am a wife, a mother, a yogi, an artist, a friend, a sister and a daughter."
I still visit 'the rooms' from time-to-time. It's ok to be reminded of that part of who I am. Where I was, and where I am now. One day at a time.
